After breakfast you are collected from your Arusha hotel and drive south to Tarangire National Park, famous for its giant baobab trees and some of the largest elephant herds in Tanzania. Spend the afternoon on a game drive along the Tarangire River, watching elephant, zebra, wildebeest and buffalo come down to drink, before settling in at your lodge for the night.
An early start and a scenic drive across the Ngorongoro highlands bring you into the southern Serengeti around midday. The rest of the day is spent on the plains in search of lion, cheetah, giraffe and, in season, the great wildebeest migration moving through the short-grass plains.
Enjoy a morning game drive in the Serengeti, then travel east towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, pausing at Olduvai Gorge en route if time allows. Arrive at your lodge in the crater highlands in time for sunset over one of Africa's most spectacular landscapes.
Descend some 600 metres to the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater for a half-day game drive in this natural amphitheatre, home to black rhino, lion, hippo and flamingo. After a picnic lunch you climb back to the rim and drive to Arusha, arriving in the late afternoon.
